Inauguration of the Congress of Neuropsychology and Mental Health

The November 20 was held at the General Auditorium of the University of Azuay the inauguration of the Congress of Neuropsychology and Mental Health, which culminated on Saturday 23 and was addressed to students and professionals of different branches of psychology.

Following the words of the Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, and before a presentation by the UDA School of Dance, Alexandra Bueno, Director of the Master's Degree in Neuropsychology, referred to the phrase promoted by the Congress: in the Brain universe builds the mind:

"The phrase seeks to highlight precisely the greatness and nobility of this organ of which there is still much to discover, but that is part of everything that makes us human beings."

He added that "our feelings, our thoughts, our deepest desires and desires are born in the brain and build what we do, our behaviors, and ultimately build our mind, build what we are."

The main objective of the congress was to make presentations with high-level exhibitors to be able to know with greater relevance how the resources of the mind can be enhanced, how new resources derived from technology can be implemented and the analysis of new forms of evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.

Throughout the three days, we analyzed how to preserve the mental health of the general population with different techniques, habits and innovative methods.

The event featured high-level local and international exhibitors. One of them was Henry Castillo, a specialist in neuropsychology, who talked about the limbic and rational area of ​​the brain, the experiments he has been doing regarding the relationship of the brain and the heart.

In addition, he showed a new look towards traditional ways of doing therapy, with innovative mechanisms derived from technological tools. "One has 100 one billion neurons, and of all of them we use only a part, but the potential of our brain is immense," said Castillo.

"These days have sought to be a space where professionals from different branches of health that accompany us share their research and, at the same time, update their knowledge," said Alexandra Bueno.

The event also announced that in four years the University of Azuay will host the largest neuropsychology congress in Latin America: Cuenca will receive the SLAN, Congress of the Latin American Society of Neuropsychology.
