The November 18 was inaugurated at the University of Azuay the V Meeting of Design, Architecture and Art, and the V National Design Hall, spaces where the postulates of the German Bauhaus school were analyzed, which turns 100 years old.

The organization of both events took place within the framework of the 35 years of the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art, the country's first design faculty.

The event began with a presentation by the School of Theater Art, which consisted of four acts: a choreography based on the song Memory of the musical Cats; a brief interpretation of the opera Carmen; a song of the musical Jesus Christ Super Star and a representation of the opera by Rinaldo, with a musical background of the same work.

The objective of the meeting was to provide professionals, academics and students with spaces for learning, dialogue and presentation, both of their processes and of the results of their work; For this, there were keynote talks and workshops until the November 21.

"Playing on the edge of the abyss", by the Argentine Guillermo Bengoa; "The logical empiricism of the Bauhaus", by his compatriot Ana Cravino, and "Bauhaus in perspective: the evolution and persistence of an idea", by Ecuadorian Fernanda Aguirre were three of the talks given during the days of the meeting.

"Analyzing the contemporary problems under criteria of artists who have already dabbled in design and architecture, forms a complex network of interaction of two historical moments in art," said Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty, and added:

"Bauhaus has become a fertile field to think and design, the final purpose of all these workshops was to encourage reflection on the different works."

The November 19 took place to award the best projects in the design room, prepared by students and professionals of this discipline.

To kick off the event, the Dance Company of the Universidad del Azuay presented a complex artistic choreography prepared by Carmen Vázquez and Angélica Galarza, called "Geometric Games or Mobile Constructions".

In the presentation, the construction of the body was explored in the object complemented with contrasts and chromatic variations. The use of objects put the dancer's body in the background, and the body and space designs developed multiple geometries.

The winners of the first place in the category for students received a diploma of recognition and the amount of US $ 600, the second place was awarded with US $ 300 and their respective diploma.

In the modality of professionals, the first place was awarded with the delivery of US $ 1.200 and the second place was recognized with US $ 500.
