UDA, headquarters of the fifth edition of CONGRETUR

The fifth edition of one of the most important tourism congresses in the country was held at the General Auditorium of the University of 13 to November 15, with the aim of analyzing the realities and challenges of tourism at global, national and regional levels, in addition to create suitable spaces where to discuss the responsibilities of the new tourist actors.

Javier Mullo, president of Ecuador Conventions, commented that during the three days of the congress, the fundamental axes in which they worked were: marketing, economy, tourism and sustainable development, culture and heritage and innovation and tourism technology.

Each of the topics was addressed by an expert. Miguel Arraca presented the theme of meetings tourism; Mexican Erika Seamanduras spoke about the empowerment of women; Enrique Cabanilla delved into territorial planning and community tourism, and Colombian Gustavo Adolfo Toro talked about innovation and technology in the hotel sector.

“It is intended to consolidate as the most important academic tourism event in Ecuador. CONGRETUR begins to visit different locations with the intention of generating local development because what, in the end, we create, is meeting tourism, ”said Mullo.

Along with the congress, other events were held, such as the Second Tourist Forum: tourist experiences in Ecuador, the Second Festival of the People's Bands, the Third CONGRETUR of My Flavors and the Second Tourist Entrepreneurship Fair.

In addition, autonomous and decentralized governments (GADs) of several provinces worked together with the Tourism Schools to promote their ventures and projects such as natural medicine of Gualaquiza, straw hats of Biblián, jewelry of Chordeleg, student ventures in agencies could be observed traveling, among others.

Natalia Rincón, president of this edition of CONGRETUR, described these events as a showcase showing all the activities that can be done in the province of Azuay.

“Together with the students and through the linking department, we generate everything that is projects to support everything that has to do with cultural or natural heritage, whether tangible or intangible,” Rincón concluded.
