Within the framework of the project “Strategies to articulate environmental management competencies in the cantonal GAD of Cuenca”, the October 31 was held at the José Cordero Acosta auditorium of the Faculty of Legal Sciences, the closing and delivery event of certificates.

With this delivery, training was completed for community leaders in environmental law, sustainable development, international cooperation, environmental management and its instruments, environmental management competencies in parish GADS and the formulation of environmental projects and strategies for environmental education.

The workshops were held at the University of Azuay, with a duration of 60 semipresence hours. The trainers were teachers from the University of Azuay, specialized in environmental law, international cooperation, land planning and public administration.

In the event, a certificate of participation was also given to the workshop introducing environmental law; This workshop was held for the officials and technicians of the Environmental Management Commission of Cuenca (CGA) and the sanctioning administrative officials.

“The objectives of the training were to analyze and establish mechanisms and instruments with the parish GADS to articulate the environmental management activity and improve their skills and knowledge in terms of the specific competencies they have as a parish GAD,” said Ana María Bustos, Coordinator of the Law School.

“It is essential for the University to be able to link with reality, with communities, political work, because precisely both doctrine, knowledge, and academy, make sense when it can be applied to real life and, above all, be a instrument to improve the quality of life and address and solve problems, ”concluded Bustos.
