Law professor conducts academic visit to British universities

Silvana Tapia, a professor at the Law School of the University of Azuay, visited two British academic institutions - University of Birmingham and Brunel University London - in the framework of the pilot interdisciplinary research project on access to justice in Ecuador: “Investigating the experiences of women in the use of specialized courts for violence against women ”.

The academic visit was fully funded by the Institute for Global Innovation of the University of Birmingham, within the framework of the institutional cooperation that is maintained with the Law School for the execution of this research project

Within the framework of this initiative, it was decided to work on two parallel products: an informative brochure addressed to the general public and public servants, about the findings of the project, and an academic article to be published in Spanish and English in a journal international, in co-authorship with the researchers of the University of Birmingham.

Professor Tapia presented the preliminary findings of the research at the two universities, in addition to participating in a discussion on sexual and reproductive rights in Latin America in Birmingham and another on the limits of human rights from decolonial theories at the London institution.

“In general terms, it was a very successful visit, which allowed to disseminate the academic activities carried out in our faculty, as well as to execute networking and establish new academic contacts that will allow us to continue the collaboration in future research,” he concluded Silvana Tapia.
