Sara Vanegas launches "Ecuadorian Poetry (Essential Anthology)"

The October 22 was held in the Multiple Use Room of the University of Azuay launching the book Ecuadorian Poetry (Anthology Essential) by author Sara Vanegas Coveña. The book contains a compilation of poetry written nationwide of the twentieth century and the first two decades of the twenty-first century plus a brief individual assessment of each of the works.

The program was attended by Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University, who welcomed those present, and Eugenia Washima, Professor of Language and Literature at the University of Cuenca. The teacher commented that the work “leads to the visionary need of the author to make a concrete look of the Ecuadorian poetic genre:

"Her previous works, surely, inspired Sara about the readers' difficulties in accessing the country's works and justify the author's educational desire," said Washima.

The book has 87 authors representing 6 generations. The works are displayed in chronological order and allow us to have a panoramic view of our lyrics, and reflect both the character of the author and the historical context in which they were written.

Washima said that "several of the authors found in this work have remained in secondary spaces or have been overshadowed throughout literary history (...) hence the author's need to include these valuable names and offer the first anthology full of authors of the XX and XXI century ”.

Finally, Sara Vanegas addressed the public with the following words: "With this work we hope to have filled a void, since we have lacked a similar compilation so far, we hope that your reading will be useful".

In addition, the author explained that the book includes a list of sources that will help expand the landscape of Ecuadorian literature for any of its readers.
