Launch of the book "Words and signs of everyday life" by Oswaldo Encalada

On Wednesday, October 23, in the Multiple Use Room of the University of Azuay, the book "Words and signs of everyday life" was written by Oswaldo Encalada, a UDA researcher.

In the event were present the different authorities of the University, teachers, students and relatives of the writer.

Encalada mentioned that the reason for creating this book was his profession as a philologist, who makes him work and research all the time on different words.

"When I find something remarkable, something attractive, something wonderful in the meaning or use of words, I immediately begin to work and write the essay," said the writer.

"Words and signs of everyday life" is made up of three different chapters: in the first one, single words and their meanings are reviewed, such as estimating, lucubration, etc .; in the second part, the different signs of the zodiac are reviewed from a historical perspective, their origin and how they have evolved; and in the third part, he delves into various signs of Hispanic cultures such as the wings of the angels, the scythe, among others.

The realization of this type of books takes Oswaldo Encalada between 8 to 12 months of research, together with the writing that takes place simultaneously.

“We are investigating a new research project with the University. It is planned to finish between February and March next year, ”said Encalada.

The writer also commented that his goal in making this book is to bring the words and signs to the people so that he has a kind, friendly reading and so that he can better understand how the words are.
