The electronic vote will be implemented this Friday in the UDA elections

On Friday 18 of October, elections will be held at the University of Azuay to elect future representatives of professors and workers for the co-government dignities. Voting will take place at the Hernán Malo Library from 9: 30 in the morning to 14: 30 in the afternoon. Suffrage will be done through electronic voting.

Juan Morales, President of the Electoral Council, comments that "electronic voting is an important technological modality that guarantees transparency in voting and uses technological advances to speed up vote counting."

The Electoral Council - together with the Information Technology department - has provided that each voter has a unique code known as token to ensure the confidentiality and secrecy of the vote.

According to Morales, the University has a protocol that allows verifying that the amphora is empty and with due security since, although the vote is electronic, the votes will be printed in case there is a challenge process. Such cases may be submitted within a period of 24 hours from the proclamation of provisional results published, the October 18, by the Electoral Council.

This Friday the university co-government will be elected, conformed by the University Council, Faculty Council and Postgraduate Council. '' The University Council is the most important instance in the University. In Board meetings all decisions related to institutional life are taken, in the Faculty Council it is resolved on the competent decisions of each Faculty, in the Graduate Council it is decided on the actions directed at the fourth academic level, `` explained Dr. Juan Morales.

On the other hand, the engineer Fernando Balarezo, Director of the Department of Information Technology, said that the electronic vote is kept in a software, this allows the program to display the results directly.

The computer program that will be used for the electoral process was created by professionals from the University. This system will allow greater security at the time of defraying and thus avoid external interventions.

This application will be connected to two servers, one main and the other that, in case of failure, will be able to replicate the information. Balarezo indicated that the necessary audits have been carried out and he is sure that electronic voting will work effectively on Friday of elections.
