Conversation “Perspectives of the new Local and National Economy”

The 26 and 27 of September, in the Hernán Malo Library of the University of Azuay, held the discussion “Perspectives of the new Local and National Economy” organized by the Faculty of Administration Sciences, the School of Economics and the Association of Economists of Azuay.

During the event, local and national issues were discussed and the “Economy of Ecuador after the era of Correism” was discussed with nationally recognized exhibitors and the participation of professors and economists from the UDA.

During his speech, the Rector of the University of Azuay, Francisco Salgado, said that "we must recognize that Cuenca does not have a powerful voice, it has no thinkers in the area of ​​Economics, such as the voices in Quito and Guayaquil" He added that he hopes that this event will be repeated every year so that when leaving the university students have an important voice in the economy of the country.

Likewise, he acknowledged the work of some Cuenca companies that have gained great relevance internationally such as Indurama and Graiman.

Alberto Mogrovejo, President of the Association of Economists of Azuay, added that a project has been proposed to make common strategies with the Economics schools of the universities of Cuenca.

"Unfortunately, Cuenca has not had a voice in the economic sphere in recent years, and we believe that the third city of Ecuador, the first city in culture, should have in its economic sphere people who contribute locally," Mogrovejo concluded.

During the Conversation there were interesting presentations by nationally recognized exhibitors such as Jorge Rojas, who spoke about the benefits of electronic money; Carla Hermida, who shared the theme “Studying the Tram from its Impact on Real Estate dynamics”; María José González, who discussed the topic “How to develop production in Cuenca”, among others.

On the second day, the event was attended by prominent economist Pablo Lucio Paredes, Director of the Institute of Economics University of San Francisco de Quito and former Secretary General of Planning. 

The theme of his lecture was "The Economy of Ecuador after the decade of correismo".
