First Technical Meeting - Telecommunications Scientist

On Thursday 11 of July the School of Electronic Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology organized the First Technical - Scientific Meeting of Telecommunications in the Auditorium of the Faculty.

In the morning, the event focused on the technical part of telecommunications with ETAPA EP's Telecommunications Manager, Fabián Brito, who discussed the future of telecommunications in Cuenca.

Then it was the turn of Carlos Guzmán and Ernesto Pérez, of CEDIA, who talked about the telecommunications networks and datacenter for the academy and the handling of security incidents, respectively.

The Technical Director of the ARCOTEL 6 Zonal Coordination, César Iñiguez, closed the morning referring to the deployment prospects of 5G in Ecuador.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of professors from the University of Lorraine in France and the Universidad Chile and Santiago de Chile, who arrived in the country thanks to the project of international cooperation of the French government with academic institutions of South America.

They addressed diverse topics such as the introduction to VLC communication, the performance of visible light communication systems based on OFDM and the design of a VLC protocol to extract the GPS that coordinates the tunnel using the VSAT satellite signal.             

Daniel Iturralde, Coordinator of Electronic Engineering, indicated that the objective of having made this meeting was to inform students about the mobility processes that could exist in the future between the UDA and these foreign institutions. In addition, Iturralde said that soon the first master's degree in telecommunications in the city will be approved.

"The idea of ​​School of Electronic Engineering is that these meetings become rotating, that is, we can do it once a year, contributing with local professionals and the international field in industrial area," concluded the Electronic Engineering Coordinator.
