"The best wine in the world", a work that was born in the UDA

On the night of the 27 in June, the play "The best wine in the world" was presented by the Theater Art Company of the UDA in the General Auditorium. The premiere was made at the 18: 00 hours and was attended by special guests and various authorities of the University, while the premiere was made two hours later with the assistance of several students and the general public.

The work was written by the ex-student of the Theater Creation career, Jordi Almeida, and directed by Jaime Garrido. The cast was made up of Francisco Aguirre, Samantha Villota, Carlos Loja, Jaime Garrido, Milena Montaño and Damián Albornoz. The scenography was in charge of Virginia Cordero, in the dressing room Silvia Zeas, in the sound Roberto Moscoso and in lighting Daniel Montalván.

The work consists of a prestigious couple, the González, who prepared a meeting in their house inviting all the neighbors of the neighborhood so they can know their lifestyle dictated by "the program", which was to follow a system to be part of the society. All the preparations were directed and stipulated by Mr. Gonzales and performed by Ms. Gonzalez with accuracy and promptness, demonstrating to themselves that they have control over every aspect of their lives.

However, at the indicated time only the Suarez, or as they like to call themselves, Dani and Jess. Faced with such an inconvenience that takes them by surprise, Mr. González encounters another reality that he tries to confront, and Ms. Gonzales discovers that there is another world beyond what her husband says.

All this will lead to the entry of the highest authorities of "the program": the Judge and the Supreme Leader, who will only show that even they are not able to understand the same system they claim to represent and impose, and that also hides other interests very difficult to understand among the threads that led them to this singular night.

The work has a critique of how we are programmed in each role, such as for rebellion or to be a pre-established character who needs to realize the reality in which we live.

The audience is apparently in a room of a house, but in the end this stage is open to the public and it is implied that they are interpreters of this work. For example, when the character of Mr. González realizes that there are people looking at him and enters into anguish without knowing why there is someone watching, being also a metaphor of life on what they will say.

Jordi Almeida, dramatist of the work, expressed the following: "The ideas proposed here fill me with emotion, it really makes me feel a lot of satisfaction and gratitude to allow this work to be carried out. This work is a demonstration of opportunity for those students who in the future want to show their proposals on stage at the UDA and the Faculty of Design. Hopefully, this impelled the new generations to do more different and better works ".

Almeida also mentioned: "The work began when I was a student, left a job in the dramaturgy class. The initial idea was a meeting of conservatives and liberals, little by little I developed it, I presented it as management work, then I presented it in the election of king and queen of the Faculty of Design. And when I graduated, I wanted to present the work here, because I wanted to contribute to the School of Theater Creation and in a certain way I wanted to share with the Theater Company, but not as an actor but in a different way, that is, to contribute with dramaturgy ".

"There are some directors who say that after eight meters the viewer's sensation varies. Especially in this type of works you need to follow the text with great attention so that you connect with the actors, feel your energy and so you can get carried away by the work, that is why I decided to take the audience to the stage to keep the spectator close to the work ", explained Jaime Garrido, director of the work.

"This is a product created from the university and that is a very important factor, because we have worked from Ionesco, Shakespeare, Lorca and this time with Jordi Almeida that an evolutionary step: projecting to the stage what the graduates of the race did" , concluded Garrido.

It is planned to schedule a tour with the work towards the coast so that it will mature and so for the return of classes to present at the UDA again.
