Talk about gender and presentation of Universidad Verdad

The June 13, the Gender Department of the UDA and the School of Communication organized, in the postgraduate room, a round table as a prelude to the 75 edition of the magazine Universidad Verdad "Gender, Sexuality and Public Policy".

"The objective in form was to make a pre-launch of the new stage of the magazine Universidad Verdad, the oldest magazine of the University, which before was not a scientific journal, but is currently in the process of indexing," said Catalina González , organizer of the event.

Universidad Verdad magazine invited academics and researchers, both in Ecuador and abroad, to send scientific articles that address issues related to epistemology and / or knowledge of gender, research on gender in social sciences, research on sexual diversity and public policies, gender violence, among others.

The event featured speakers from Cesibel Ochoa, Silvana Tapia, Rafael Crespo and María del Carmen Calderón, who addressed issues such as: the study of gender theory in law and the challenges to introduce this approach in Latin American universities; sexuality, education, social impositions and risky practices, and science, the heritage of half the population?

"This round table fit perfectly in the juncture, since the past 12 in June the world learned that the Constitutional Court of Ecuador approved equal marriage, which made us realize that few still know what is Gender. That is why it is important to generate this space and listen to those who can talk to us much more about it, "González concluded.

The event lasted two hours and was attended by students in the second, sixth and eighth cycle of the Communication career, as well as teachers from the School.
