Inauguration of Teatrino and DisLAB

The 14 of June the University of Azuay inaugurated the Teatrino and the DisLAB, renovated areas of the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art. In addition, the scientific journal of the Faculty that has recently been indexed was presented.

The transformation that space had for design students is evident. The project consists of two spaces: the Teatrino, a small auditorium with capacity for 60 people, and the DisLAB, a modern laboratory that is divided according to the work area of the students, with capacity for 200 students.

"All this in a new complex. The workshops are completely renovated and equipped with a vision of practical learning that complements the theoretical, "said Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty.

DisLAB are all the workshops of the Faculty of Design under a concept that has evolved. Before the workshops of carpentry, jewelry and ceramics were separated, however, now the new area has been built in an integrated way, that is, all in the same space where the students will work together.

Likewise, DisLAB is complemented by two additional zones: MediaLAB, which is a mini-lab where students work on multimedia planning, projections and mapping, and the 3Dlab, another of the laboratories where an 3d printing machine is located.

"What we want is to give many more facilities to teachers and students so that they can work and learn. We are sure that the best learning occurs in practice, in the theoretical-practical relationship, "said Malo.

In addition, the scientific journal DAYA is the first indexed journal of the Universidad del Azuay. Its acronyms refer to design, art and architecture. Within the journal, scientific articles are developed that are related to the aforementioned topics.
