Workshop on the socialization of the Draft Organic Law on Tourism

The April 10 was held in the Multiple Use Room the workshop for the socialization of the draft of the Organic Law of Tourism by the Ministry of Tourism - Directorate of Regulations.

"Ecuador needs to assume the development of tourism with real objectives that can direct the country in a sustainable, profitable and innovative way that allows us to lead a process of cultural and economic growth," said Vice Minister of Tourism, Mariano Proaño.

Through a presentation, Susana Suárez, Undersecretary of Coordination and Control, explained the context and content of the Organic Law of Tourism. Within the exhibition, the governing axes of the Law were made known: intersectoral articulation, quality, safety, destinations and products, connectivity, promotion, productive development and investment and innovation.

"Some of our goals are that tourism be considered a State policy, as well as a prioritized economic sector and a key sector for the development of the country in which the State should promote and articulate tourism in a sustainable, harmonious way and integral, "said Suarez.

Tourism activity is considered as the third source of non-oil income. However, what is sought with the tourism development plan - through training and investment in quality, innovation, security, promotion and connectivity - is to turn it into the country's first source of non-oil income.

The methodology used in the event was organized by Renato Cevallos, Director of Technical Training Quality, who divided the attending authorities into four work tables. Each of the tables had a topic for discussion, later the contributions were collected and recorded in minutes.

The minutes with the contributions made by the members of each table will be socialized with the different provinces of the country and will be finalized with the analysis carried out by the Policy Directorate of MINTUR (Ministry of Tourism).
