Exhibition of works of the School of Textile and Fashion Design

The 23 in January the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art inaugurated in the House of Services to the Society the exhibition "Photography Textiles and Fashion" realized with the works of the students of third cycle B of the Chair of Audio and Video Photography dictated by Paúl Carrión, of the students of third A of the Chair of Technology and Production I in charge of the teacher María Elisa Guillén, and of the students of the fifth cycle of the Chair of 5 Design by the teacher María del Carmen Trelles.

In addition, the haute couture design project that was conceived for the fourteenth Cuenca Biennial "Estructuras Vivientes", prepared by seventh cycle students together with teachers María del Carmen Trelles and Silvia Zeas, was presented.

The students of the Chair of Audio and Video Photography sought to rediscover everyday life through the lens of a camera in an almost playful way, paying attention to objects and moments hidden by routine.

“The objective was to go from a snapshot to a thoughtful photograph, which responds to basic composition rules such as thirds, gaze, direction, repetition, horizon, second frame, etc. The eye is trained to learn to look again,” added Paúl Carrión.

The students of Technology and Production 1 made knitting manuals in which they captured the knowledge acquired in terms of basic and medium stitches made with traditional stick and crochet techniques.

In the manual presented you can find technical explanations, diagrams and samples made for a quick understanding and elaboration of each of the points. The students explored two of

These fabrics using alternative materials, which allowed to expand the design possibilities from the same textile base.

The students of the 5 Design Chair carried out the design of textile bases, handling collection criteria.

The objective was to achieve, from the recognition of the market, trends and the use of technology, a proposal of innovative and contextualized fabrics according to the existing resources in the medium.
