The Polyphonic Choir and the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Cuenca were the hosts of the "Misa Tango a Buenos Aires", a show that featured as guests the Polyphonic Choir of the University of Azuay, the Children's Choir of the José María Rodríguez School of Arts and the Youth Choir of the José María Rodríguez Superior Conservatory, under the direction of María Eugenia Arias Maldonado.

The Christmas staging, under the tutelage of William Vergara, took place on December 18 at the Carlos Cueva Tamariz Theater and December 19 at the Old Cathedral Museum.

The event was divided into two parts: the first, composed of classical carols such as: "San José al Niño Jesús", "Campana sobre Campana", "Adeste Fideles", "Saya de Navidad" and "Los Reyes Magos". The second was the "Misa Tango a Buenos Aires" by Martín Palmeri, in which there were three special appearances: the soloist soprano Doris Gordón, Patricia Andrade on the piano and Jéssica Cárdenas on the accordion.

What the work Misa Tango was looking for in Buenos Aires was to stage the different songs of the mass with an expression focused on the Argentine culture.

The participants have achieved an artistic career worthy of admiration, and with their higher studies in the different branches of music, several awards and their participation in international projects managed to convey to the public the Christmas spirit of the culture that was transmitted.

Dr. Pablo Vanegas Peralta, Rector of the University of Cuenca, gave a warm welcome to the audience and mentioned that the fact that the city of Cuenca is recognized as a World Heritage requires us to strengthen the art and its artistic expressions, as Cuenca that "it is a city that is due to art, crafts and culture".
