Award for best scientific article on information technology

Researchers from the University of Azuay obtained the award for the best track scientist in the VI Ecuadorian Congress of Information and Communication Technologies, which took place at the National University of Chimborazo (UNACH), in Riobamba, from the 21 to the 23 in November.

As explained by Marcos Orellana, Coordinator of the School of Systems Engineering and Telematics, the Congress allowed the presentation of two types of articles: track scientist and the track technical (the track is a scientific article oriented to a topic or topic).

While the track scientist received scientific articles oriented to promote the progress of science, new methods or techniques, accompanied by experiments that prove the hypothesis of an investigation; the technician gathered technical articles that presented novel applications, practical experiences and technical challenges that use certain scientific bases.

The recognition to the best track The scientific article was delivered to the scientific article that obtained the best assessment by blind peers, among all the scientific articles presented at the congress.

The authors paper The winners were Belén Arias, Gerardo Orellana, Marcos Orellana and María Inés Acosta.

"The award-winning article proposes a predictive model to analyze the comments or tweets related to vehicular traffic in the city of Cuenca, associating events in relation to their incidence and geographical location in real time, applying text mining techniques, "said Marcos Orellana and added:

"The result is evident in the generation of data patterns; for example, traffic on Bolívar Street or traffic accidents bordering El Arenal market ".

The selected articles are published in the magazine Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing, from the Springer house and indexed in Scopus.

This congress was created by the CEDIA network at 2013 with the aim of promoting integration among researchers, technicians, students and the general public in the area of ​​information technology.

In this edition, national and international master conferences were held, scientific and technical articles were presented in each of the thematic axes and the results of R + D + i projects belonging to the CEPRA XI call.
