Second harvest of the garden of the UDA

Second harvest of the garden of the UDA

On November 26, the second harvest of the organic garden that the School of Biology has at the Faculty of Science and Technology was held. This project is the product of the joint work of three teachers of the Faculty: Danilo Minga, Gustavo Chacón and Joaquín López; as well as the students of three different subjects of the Biology career.

The orchard is about to reach a year of existence, because at the beginning of 2018 began with this project that has as one of its main objectives to promote community work among all participants. For the teacher Chacón, "the idea is to get products that are for everyone and the result of everyone's work".

The project currently has the collaboration of 40 students and they have around 20 plant species, between agricultural products and medicinal plants.

However, those in charge of this project have expectations for the orchard to grow more. The intention is to double the size of the orchard, expand the number of products, meet standards of agroecology and organic agriculture, among others.

As part of the collection, a meeting was held between those involved in the garden to, according to the words of Chacón: "Define a more serious line to work on the future of the garden".

What you want to do is create a club that is dedicated to the development of the garden; a volunteer club that promotes communitarianism and responsible agriculture.
