Training in aggregates and stones

This Friday 7 of September inaugurated the training course in arid and stony materials organized by the Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Azuay and the Municipality of Cuenca.

The Director General of the Directorate of Aggregates and Stones of the Municipality, Pablo Crespo González, said that this unit, in the monitoring and monitoring of artisanal permits and mining concessions in the canton, found that there was "lack of knowledge on the part of those in charge of the extraction of these materials from their social and environmental responsibility ".

This lack was the one that ended up linking both institutions, although the relationship between the Directorate of Aggregates and Stones of the Municipality of Cuenca and the UDA had begun last year with the consultancy to find new sources of these materials.

Jacinto Guillén, Vice Chancellor for Research, added that the University participates in this initiative because "it is aware of the need to improve extraction techniques, take care of our geography and mitigate environmental impacts."

The training consists of four modules: Environmental Mining Legal Framework; Aggregate and Stone Exploitation Techniques; Occupational Health, Safety and Health - Environmental Management; and Entrepreneurship.

They will have a duration of 64 face-to-face hours and 32 of autonomous learning.
