Launch of the book "Passions of Youth"
On Thursday June 28 at the University of Azuay, the Faculty of Legal Sciences presented the book “Pasiones de Juventud. Essay on the political thought of José María Velasco Ibarra ”by the writer Alberto Acosta Burneo.
After the launch, there was a conversation consisting of Doctors Gonzalo Ortiz, Mario Jaramillo, Claudio Malo and Esteban Coello.
“Pasiones de Juventud is an epistolary compilation of an Ecuadorian character so well known in the world of politics and civic activity. An admired and even loved character, but also highly criticized, that is why in this book he tells us about his thoughts, his political life and his militancy, ”said José Chalco, Dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences.
The book tells about some youth letters from Velasco Ibarra that are written around his 28 years of age, at which time the young Velasco Ibarra is at a very special juncture in his life, who does not know what to do with himself. During this time, he falls in love with a woman and experiences new experiences for him.
“The idea of making a book about Velasco Ibarra was born a few years ago, when I found some letters saved from my grandfather. They were letters addressed to Carlos Iván written by Velasco Ibarra himself. I found it very interesting to analyze and tell about this part of Velasco Ibarra's life, "said Acosta.
