Days of Knowledge and Culture are inaugurated with the talk "Ethics in the profession"

The talk "Ethics in the profession", by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Ramiro Laso, was held at the 31 in May, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Science and Technology. The talk was part of the "Knowledge and Culture Days", organized by CCTT.

The aim of the Knowledge and Culture Days is to bring students and professionals together to discuss the challenges and experiences of science, from a human, social and spiritual point of view.

The talk began with the intervention of Andrés López, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, who welcomed those present. Regarding ethics, he commented that "it has to be present in all the activities we develop, not only as professionals but as human beings".

Next, Ramiro Laso, began the talk, raising the theme "how we look at life", at this point he explained how people choose from what point of view they live day to day.

To start a dynamic with the students, Laso quoted Julio Cortázar to explain how in a sentence we can put a comma in different places and that would explain how we look at life, and the context in which we see situations.

"We must understand the society in which we live, since at present it offers us a frantic ritual of how to live, that is why we must understand the relationship between profession, ethics and society"

In addition, regarding the human point of view and ethics in society, Laso commented that super-communication and super-performance have distanced us from reality; as well as consumerism, individuality, overexploitation and depression are consequences of the new "society of power.

To put the talk of Ramiro Laso in context, we must situate ourselves in the new philosophical currents that color current society, for example, the Korean philosopher Byung-Chul Han, proposes a critique of the "society of power"; about it he mentions that we live constantly pressured to do the best, a society where the individual overpowers to succeed, and that makes the failure is not accepted, thus generating a multitude of failures.

He also commented on how currently, individuals need to show themselves so that society takes into account what they do, what they like, what they have seen, etc. And in that way we use social networks to make our private lives, a public life.

To conclude the talk, he invited those present to analyze, think and comment; and be concerned and interested in these issues, which are relevant to the development of the human being.
