Weaving networks, linking project with the canton Biblián

The 30 of January the University of Azuay and its School of Design, Architecture and Art made the delivery of certificates of the Continuous Training Program to artisans who participated in the project Innovation to the Fabrics of Alpaca and Paja Toquilla of the Biblián Canton.   

The artisans also presented plaques of appreciation to the Rector of the University, Francisco Salgado; to the Mayor of the Municipal GAD of the Biblián Canton, Guillermo Espinoza; the Undersecretary of Industries, Carlos Gómez de la Cruz; to Juanita Bersosa and Danilo Barreto.

After this, the works of artisans, students, professors and technicians of the area were exhibited in the Gallery of the Faculty of Architecture and Art Design.

Those who were part of the project in the Innovation to the Fabrics of Alpaca received a training of 120 hours in which artisans and students interacted thanks to a subject called "Technological Bases for the Design with Alpaca"; There was also a technical visit to the entire alpaca fiber value chain of the company Inca Alpaca, to see from the breeding of animals, the manufacture of yarn and garment manufacture to sale.

"In a real and metaphorical sense, we have woven many relationships, we have linked yarns and fibers, we have shared and projected knowledge, yours and ours, moments like this make visible our commitment to society," said Genoveva Malo, Dean of the School of Design, Architecture and Art.
