Rotation of UDA students in US trauma centers

Two students from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Azuay are performing a rotation in Trauma Surgery, Emergencies and Critical Care at the Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital (VCU), a high complexity trauma center.

The rotation, which takes place from October to December, is carried out in conjunction with a simultaneous rotation with the 911 Medical Emergencies Service in a reference center in the US called the Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA).

This rotation exists from a project with the Pan-American Trauma Society that aims to generate exchanges between medical students and Latino doctors at different trauma centers in the USA.

In this experience, students have the opportunity to know the model in which a trauma center of the highest level is managed, with advanced technology and procedures from the receipt of the injured to its final care.

On the other hand, this activity allows students to interact with other medical students, residents and mentors from different areas, creating connections for their professional future.

This is the fourth time that UDA students carry out this rotation.
