The Faculty of Philosophy begins to travel its first 50 years

The October 12 Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Education Sciences began to live its jubilee year with a solemn session in which he commemorated the former rectors who passed through their classrooms, their previous deans, the teachers who have retired in the 2016-2017 year and those who complete 25 years of service in the University.

Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA, welcomed the ceremony with a thank you to all those present, including Juan Cordero and Mario Jaramillo, ex-directors of the UDA and also exdecanos of the Faculty of Philosophy.

In addition to the ex-directors, Francisco Olmedo, the first Dean of this Faculty, who was born as the Higher Institute of Philosophy, was on the board of directors. Two other professors of that Institute present at the tribute were Claudio Malo and Carlos Pérez Agustí. Everyone received their recognition.

Also recognized were Oswaldo Encalada and Margarita Proaño, who retired in the last school period, and Mónica Corral and Franklin Bucheli, professors of the Faculty who completed 25 years of teaching.

"I want to thank the University of Azuay for having allowed us to be part of it and have given us the opportunity to serve him for so many years," said Corral, in charge of thanking on behalf of all the teachers who received this tribute.

To finalize the event, all the exdecanos of the Faculty were recognized besides Olmedo, Cordero and Jaramillo: Joaquín Moreno, Marco Tello, Miguel Miranda, Jorge Quintuña, Galo Fajardo, Edgar León and Carlos Delgado.

"In this beginning of the year of our Faculty and University we propose the institutionalization of this solemn act where we will remember that the founding pillars of our institution, far from being successful, were the central recognition of the human being and its final and transcendent projection in service and dedication to society ”, said Ramiro Laso, current Dean of the Faculty.
