UDA will be part of the 2017 Lira Festival

The 23 of May in the Bank of the Austro the bases of the VI edition of the Festival of the Lira were presented, the contest of poetry that counts on the endorsement of the Municipality of Cuenca and of the four Universities of the city, among them the University of the Azuay

"Deep water: poetry and nature" is the concept that will be addressed this year. The same evokes the link of the literary event with nature in its different manifestations and conceptions.

The event began with a video of the gathering of what this festival has been throughout the years in the city.

The press conference was made up of various authorities, among them Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA, since the University will actively participate in this edition from the conferences, round tables and meetings that are held in the different educational institutions with the presence of national and international poets.

These spaces will be open for invited writers to share their poetry with young students and the general public.

For this year's edition, which will be celebrated between the 6 and the 9 in November, a special homage will be paid to the Cuenca poet Alfonso Moreno Mora.

The author of the best poems written between the first of January of 2015 and the 31 of December of 2016 will be awarded with the gold lira and $ 30.000.

The jury will also choose the poems worthy of the mention "Illustrious Municipality of Cuenca" that will have an economic prize of $ 5.000.

To conclude the press conference, those present were reminded that the call for the delivery of the poems is officially open, these will be received at the Documentation Center of the International Biennial of Cuenca, which is located on Calle Bolívar and Estévez de Toral.

They must be presented in a sealed envelope, addressed to: Lira Festival.

"The Festival de la Lira is one of the cultural spaces that with greater firmness and rigor have been consolidated in our beloved city and in Ecuador in general, this has become a transcendental lyric contest" mentioned Marcelo Cabrera, mayor of the city.
