Press conference of "React Latinoamérica" ​​at the UDA

The March 30 in the Multiple Use Room of the University of Azuay was held the press conference of "React Latin America", the network consisting of several academic and research centers, health agencies and social movements working together to promote actions against antibiotic resistance.

The main objective of this event was to invite students to the "Mother Earth" meeting that will be held in Rosario, Argentina, in June of 2016, and explain the different guidelines of the contest called "Let's count our Bac-Stories".

This initiative consists of making a creative story that has to do with bacterial resistance; a selection committee that will choose the best works and the winning students will be awarded with tickets to attend the meeting in Rosario

The event was attended by several authorities and media.

Arturo Qhizphe, React Coordinator began with an introductory speech and thanks to the University of Azuay for being part of this project.

"Antibiotic resistance is a subject that goes far beyond what is estimated, since it is the sixth public health problem worldwide," said Quizphe.

Subsequently, the teacher Narcisa Ullauri addressed the audience, who stressed the importance of informing the media about what is happening with bacterial resistance.

To conclude, and before the press questions, Isabel Aguilar, Communication Coordinator of React Latin America, explained the objectives and bases of the contest.

Arturo Quizphe ended the press conference with a phrase that moved the audience: "Tell me who you are with and I'll tell you what bacteria you have," he concluded.
