They present in the UDA the process of validation of the "Alforja Educativa"

This Tuesday 21 of March took place in the Multiple Use Room of the Universidad del Azuay the opening ceremony of the validation process of the "Alforja Educativa" project as an educommunication tool to sensitize and inform the population about bacterial resistance as a health challenge public.

The project, developed within the framework of the "Child to Child" program, incorporates key messages for children of school age, based on pedagogical activities, songs, stories and videos.

Near 80 students of the careers of Education and Medicine of the University of Azuay and the Catholic University of Cuenca will perform the application and validation of this educommunicative tool.

The Rector of the UDA, Francisco Salgado, welcomed the event indicating that it was a very important day for the two universities as it was intended that children "learn the wonder of the fullness of life."

For his part, the Rector of the Catholic University of Cuenca, Enrique Pozo, said that "universities are legitimized when after developing research, it extends to society in connection projects."

Throughout the project, public and private educational institutions, both urban and rural, will be participating around 10, with which they intend to reach an approximate population of 800 children.

Arturo Quizhpe, Coordinator of ReAct Latin America, recalled that 10 years ago the world began to see how children died from infections that were easily controlled before and how others were born with multiresistant bacteria to antibiotics.

Silvina Alessio, Coordinator of the project "Alforja Educativa, Salud Escolar y Mundo Microbiano" of ReAct Latin America, finally pointed out that in Cuenca there is little knowledge about bacterial resistance as well as a common abuse of antibiotics, which makes generation and validation essential of educommunicative tools such as the "Alforja".
