Ecotaller in Design conscientiza on the consumption

Students of the fifth cycle of the School of Textile and Fashion Design made an Ecotaller between the 25 and the 26 in January - simultaneously - in the Gallery of the Faculty of Design and the Textile Workshop.

The idea was born in the Problem of Knowledge I course taught by Professor Manuela Cordero and consists of an environmental awareness activity combined with ecodesign and material reuse.

The event has different facets: in the Textile Workshop, the students convert used clothing - donated to them - into new designs that will return to the original users.

This work is transmitted live by a computer located in the Gallery of the Faculty where these designs will be exhibited before being returned to their owners.

In the same Gallery, models of children's clothing that were designed last semester - in the chair of Professor Silvia Narváez - are exhibited using reused material.

And, also, there is a barter area where people can come, leave a garment and take another.

"The intention is to reflect on consumption, how clothing is discarded or not used, which can return to the circuit of use thanks to the creativity of the designers," said Manuela Cordero.
