What happens in Cuenca? Choir of the UDA sings with the Symphony Orchestra of the city
The 21, 22 and 23 days of December were the Christmas tour of the Polyphonic Choir of the University of Azuay along with the children's and youth choirs of the José María Rodríguez Conservatory and the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra.
The presentation was developed under the orchestral direction of Michael Meissner.
The preparation of the three choirs was in charge of the teacher María Eugenia Arias, who rehearsed with the choral groups for about a month and a half.
The first participation was held at the Carlos Cueva Tamariz Theater, the second at the Old Cathedral and the last at the Cristo del Consuelo Church.
"Singing with the choir of the university always fills me with joy, I really enjoy sharing the stage with my friends and doing what we like best together. In the concerts I felt very happy because I really like Christmas music and wow, it was a unique experience to do it for the first time with my colleagues and the symphony orchestra, "said Estefanía Ortiz, a member of the choir.
Within the choir repertoire of the University the students interpreted "Lindo niño", "Cantique de Noel", "El niñito is coming", "Noche de paz", among others. This was the first time that the UDA Choir sings only under the direction of this maestro and with the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra.
Santiago Arévalo, member of both the choir of the Conservatory and the choir of the University, said that they were good presentations "because although there were two more choirs that receive vocalization classes and personalized classes to put it that way, we knew how to defend ourselves; It was a very good presentation considering that it is a relatively new choir, that is giving its all. "
Santiago tells us that the comments from the audience were very good and that shows the effort and level that the choir of the University has despite having faced an orchestra with a long career and excellent performance.
The choir of the UDA was also presented at the Eucharist held at the Universidad del Azuay on Friday 23 in December.
