This Chinese as a Foreign Language program is aimed at native Spanish-speaking students who wish to learn about Chinese culture and acquire basic Chinese communication skills. The course will be based on Chinese culture and will aim to help students with no prior knowledge of Chinese acquire pinyin, tones, and basic Chinese writing skills. Unlike Spanish, Chinese has four tones and one neutral tone, and different tones indicate different characters, signifying different meanings. Therefore, emphasis will be placed on practicing tones. After acquiring reasonably good Chinese pronunciation, daily communication will be the primary focus of this course. The vocabulary, grammar, and phrases in the course will be chosen based on the situations Ecuadorian students are most likely to encounter in their daily lives.
