Prevention and safety in construction

The construction industry is considered a high-risk activity worldwide. In our country, construction activities such as housing, roads, canals or dams, among others, have caused work accidents and many of them have caused physical, temporary or lifelong disability and in extreme cases have led to the death of workers. All this due to the lack of a culture of safety and health at work. Today, the construction industry is one of the main sources of work, so a large part of the country's workforce is focused on this industry. The construction sector and activities in our country are classified as high risk, by virtue of which the Ministry of Labor issues Agreements No. MDT 2017-0067 and No. MDT-2017-0068, establishing in "Art. 2.- Replace article 146 with the following " Art. 146.- All personnel in the construction sector, including those who hold positions of responsibility such as: site manager, site superintendent, site resident, supervisor, master foremen, contractors, must receive specific information and instruction on occupational risk prevention. Obtaining a certification of labor competencies in occupational risk prevention will be required from the conformity assessment bodies (OEC) for the certification of people, recognized and accredited by the competent authority", a measure aimed at reducing accidents and occupational diseases in said activities.
