Our Purpose
Mission
Review and monitor, as appropriate, the research projects presented to the University of Azuay, whose process includes human beings.
Vision
Form a research ethics committee on human beings, which allows the review of research projects inside and outside the University of Azuay, which promotes high-quality scientific studies that respond to the needs of society, always safeguarding the rights of the subjects. human beings immersed in studies as research subjects.

Objectives
Objective
Protect the rights, safety and well-being of human beings incorporated as subjects of an investigation, through the comprehensive review of the research projects and processes presented to the committee, to decide whether to accept, modify or deny an investigation.
Specific objectives
1. Analyze the relevance of the topic proposed in the research project.
2. Evaluate the potential risks and benefits of human subjects included in the proposed studies.
3. Consider the sufficiency of information offered to the patient in the informed consent document
4. Discover potential conflicts of interest in research proposals so that there are no conflicts of interest.
5. Consider the adequacy of compensation and insurance, where appropriate, for persons subject to investigation.

Procedure
Interested parties must present the Research Project (protocol) at the CISH-UDA office, in digital and written version.

- Send the protocol in digital version (pdf) to comite.etica@uazuay.edu.ec
- The Committee meets every week to review the research projects presented, based on the parameters set forth in the Regulations for the approval and monitoring of ethics committees for research on human beings promulgated by the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador, which, in general terms consider:
- Ethical aspects
- Methodological aspects
- Legal aspects
- After analysis, evaluation and deliberation, the Committee will issue a report and opinion that may be:
- Final approval of the research
- Approval conditional on modifications, clarifications or information
- Unapproved research project
- The response may last between 15 and 60 days from the presentation of the project.
- The resolutions will be binding.

Recommendations
The project, at least, must contain the following:
1. Clear and concise title
2. A line and subline of MSP research, when applicable
3. Correlate with any of the health and well-being objectives, such as UN development goals
4. Pose a research question (or questions)
5. Pose a hypothesis, if applicable
6. Pose a general objective and specific objectives in accordance with the title
7. Clearly determine the type of study: experimental, observational or qualitative
8. Determine the study design
9. State ethical considerations:
9.1. Consult the recommendations for preparing informed consent and informed assent (when applicable) Download
9.2. Clearly explain the protection and confidentiality measures for people and their data
10. As a matter of principle, all studies must be reviewed and authorized by the Committee on Research in Human Beings, CISH-UDA. When it is considered that a study does not need committee review, an argument must be made as to why it is not necessary.
