Jorge Nunez
Jorge Núñez has a PhD in Anthropology from the University of California at Davis. Since 2003 he has studied Ecuadorian prisons ethnographically. He is director of the Diagnosis of the Ecuadorian Penitentiary System – 2021. He is currently finishing his third book, “Markets of Excitement: Playing with Debt in Times of Austerity” which won the Hunt postdoctoral fellowship from the Wenner-Gen Foundation. He is co-founder of Kaleidos -Center for Interdisciplinary Ethnography of the University of Cuenca- and is a visiting scholar at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton.
